CHARITY ACCOUNTANTS BUCKINGHAMSHIRE
Accountants for Charities
Why Choose Us To Deliver Your Charity Accounts?
Our work preparing charity accounts at Sterling Grove Accountants is important to us. By law, every charity must prepare a set of accounts and a trustees’ annual report.
We have built up an expertise and specialism over a number of years in supporting Charities and not for profit organisations.
As a result, we have a dedicated team in place to support our charity clients.
The Sterling charity accounts team have an extensive and intuitive knowledge of the charity sector.
This knowledge is put to work to offer: advisory services across charity audit, charity accounting, taxation and payroll to the partners, business owners and trustees.
Charity Accounts Requirements
Every charity, even if it is not required to register with the Charity Commission, must keep accounting records. These accounting records include cash books, receipts, records of grants, etc.
It is a legal requirement to prepare a set of annual accounts.
We Understand Charity Accounts Rules
Rules around Charity accounts and reporting are detailed and comprehensive. The aim of the accounts and reports is to provide a clear picture of your charity’s activities and financial position.
Accounts and the type of report which a charity has to prepare depends on:
- legal structure
- the value of its assets
Scrutiny of Charity Accounts:
There are two types of external scrutiny of accounts:
- Independent examination
Charities with a gross annual income between £25,000 and £250,000 must have their accounts independently examined or audited.
All charities with annual income above £1m (or with an income over £250,000 and assets above £3.26m) are required to have an audit conducted.

How can we help you?
Audit for Charities
Larger charities who predominantly are also limited companies must be audited and follow company law as well as charity law.
We are Registered Auditors and are able to carry out an audit and ensure the charity meets the requirements of both company and charity law.
Small charities can prepare simplified charity accounts on a payment and receipts basis.
They need to prepare a simplified trustees’ annual report, including the charity’s aims and achievements, names of trustees, the structure of the charity and a brief financial review.
We help trustees of charities with their reporting requirements
Charities with income between £25,000 and £500,000 will need to be Independently Examined.
We are able to carry out the Independent Examination to ensure the charity complies with their reporting requirements.
Payroll for Charities
Our dedicated payroll team will take the burden of administrating your payroll away from you giving you more time to concentrate on your charitable activities.
Accounting for Charities
Charity accounts are very structured and need to comply with the Charity and Company law.
We can help you with the presentation of your accounts.
Our experienced specialist Charity team will be able to offer you strategic advice and guidance to ensure you meet your reporting and other requirements.
